{Canadian Pattern Blog Tour}
Hey y'all! I am so excited to be participating in the Canadian Pattern Blog Tour today! My sewing buddy, Ula, over at Lulu & Celeste has put together this amazing tour showcasing patterns from Canadian Designers. You can find all of the information about the tour HERE. Check out all of the bloggers that are participating this month!
And a peek of the designers that are being featured!!!!!
When I was given the choice of which pattern to showcase, I immediately jumped on Gracious Threads Lazy Day Lounge Pants. Originally I was thinking that I would use them for pajama bottoms for my son because he is in desperate need of pjs. However, seeing how nice they sew up, they can easily be used for everyday use as well.
My son is always excited when I make new patterns for him, but when he saw that not only were they "stretchy" pants, but contained his most favorite color, he was OVER THE MOON excited. He gets really frustrated with buttons on his pants, so knowing that the waistband was elastic, was a big deciding factor for me. The pattern calls for 1 1/2" elastic, giving a nice wide and sturdy band, paired with the faux drawstring, the finished look is super cute and sporty. Definitely a great unisex pattern!!
I decided to use the same fabric that I used for the waistband, for the pockets because I love the pop of color that you get along the side. I thought the option to topstitch along the pocket line on front gave it a really unique touch, and definitely added to the sporty look.
As for the cuffs, I wasn't quite sure how my son would react to them. He doesn't like things that are tight on him, but due to the smaller amount of stretch in the orange fabric, I ended up cutting it a bit wider than the pattern recommended so that they would fit over his feet. The pattern recommends using rib knit for the waistband and cuffs, but I like to live on the edge :P HAHAHA.
This was the first Gracious Threads pattern that I have sewn, and it was such a great experience. The directions were very straight forward, and the line drawings were very clear and precise. Who else enjoys some good line drawings?!?! ME!!! Both my son and I really enjoyed this pattern, and I can honestly say that I will be making some more. I think that I will end up making a few pairs, sans pockets, solely for pajamas.
Now to the fun part!!!!! Are you ready for this...Gracious Threads has so graciously given everyone a coupon code to use this week. Good for 15% off using the code CANADATOUR June 1-8th only.
