{SK8 Skinnies} by Winter Wear Designs
OH MY! Well, Happy New Year to everyone, and welcome back! I have taken a short hiatus from my blog the last month and spent some good INTENTIONAL quality time with family for the Holidays. I must say, it was amazing! I was able to do some much needed crafting with my kiddos, travel to visit extended family, and got a few things done around the house that were in need of attention.
But, now back to sewing! YAY!!!!!! I will be honest and say that I missed it. The first thing that I did was clean up my room and reorganize for my first project of the new year, which is.......the new SK8 Skinnies from Winter Wear Designs!!
So, whoever said that sewing for boys is not fun? I will be honest and say that I much more enjoy sewing for my boys than I do for my daughter. The little masculine details that you can add to everything make for some super handsome clothes. I was so excited to test and add the SK8 Skinnies to my stash considering how rough as boys are, you can never have enough jeans for them.
At first I wasn't too sure that my son would really like the skinnies, considering how tight they can be on your legs, but with the amount of stretch that is suggested in the pattern, they turned out perfect. He can still run around and play in them easily, which is a must! The pattern is available in sizes 18m-14y with the options of a fully functioning fly (wahoo!!!) or a faux fly. For my test pair, I opted for the fully functioning fly, but I think with my next pair I will make the faux fly as my son prefers an elastic waist for easy on and off. There are also instructions for adding button elastic in the waistband!
Let's talk about the pockets for a minute because the detail on the pocket of these jeans are super cool! The top of the back pockets feature a little peek of the wrong side of the fabric. Pair that with some super cool stitching, and you really have a pair of jeans that stand out among the rest! When trying to decide what design to stitch on the pockets, I turned to Pinterest of course. Ultimately I went with a fairly simple design, but I really love the way that they turned out. So, here are a few pins with some great inspiration for designs.
You can find the SK8 Skinnies on sale for $7 through the weekend, so no coupon needed!!!! Thank you so much for stopping by! What new projects do YOU have planned for the new year? Let me know in the comments.

ReplyDeleteThose look great! You're top stitching is on point.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how I feel about the inside of the pocket on the outside (just a personal preference,) but otherwise, those jeans look amazeballs.
