{Pat Bravo Mini} Tour
Hey y'all! I am doing something a little different today! I was super lucky to have been chosen to participate in Pat Bravo's Mini Quilt tour for her new fabric lines Dare and Essentials II. We were sent a handful of a variety of fabrics to create a mini quilt with, and I am just ecstatic with what I have created.
I purchased the Farm Girl Vintage book about a month ago, which I have had my eye on for over a year, and I was just dying to make SOMETHING from it ever since. I just love the clean design of all her blocks! For my mini quilt, I chose to make her Butter Churn block which features a pinwheel in the center. The construction was very quick, simple and easy to follow. As I was looking through the book for inspiration, I felt that this block would represent Pat's fabrics very well as to not take away from the beautiful design of the fabrics. I have only ever used Art Gallery knits in the past, so it was a nice surprise to find out that the cotton wovens are JUST as amazingly soft and luxurious as the knits are....and you know just how much I love those knits!
Aren't they just GORGEOUS? The fabrics that I chose to use in my quilt are actually all from the Essentials II Azur Collection. They just coordinate beautifully together. If I had to choose a favorite it would definitely be the Delicate Femme Azur, which is the floral, because let's face it...those little bitty flowers are just so delicate and beautiful. I can really see myself using it in a variety of projects. The Intertwill Azur comes in a close second because I love the geometric lines of it, and once again I could see myself using it over and over!!! I imagine a gorgeous zipper pouch with some touches of leather and denim....yep...I think that will be happening SOON!
For the first time ever, I decided to hand quilt. Since it was a mini quilt, I wanted to try my hand in it, and boy was that a task! I am not sure that I am such a good hand quilter, but I am sure with a bit more practice I will get better. Tools also make a HUGE difference as I didn't have the correct ones, which made it even more difficult....no thimble and a blunt tip needle...NO THANK YOU! Never ever again...lol. I do really like the look of hand quilting though, so I am very happy with the choice that I made and look forward to working on my skills.
I really appreciate everyone stopping by today, and because I appreciate it so much, I am going to host a giveaway!!!! Since Pat was so kind to send over quite a few fat eights to work with, I only used a handful of them for my mini....so I am going to pass them on to one lucky person! The winner will receive 8-fat eights from the Dare line.

I am torn between two very different fabrics -- rebel brushstrokes (54308) and the wafting plaid marked (64301) -- when it comes to choosing a favorite. Actually, I love the idea of using all of these together. I also like the idea of having them all as a palette to choose from -- I love how you made a very limited selection into a charming beautiful little quilt. Sometimes simple really is best!
ReplyDeleteCute mini quilt. Favorite from Essentials II is Intertwill Gold. 24Tangent@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteMy favorites from Essentials II are Specktacular Azur and Spektacular Gold. Definitely essential! (lalaluu at yahoo dot com)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Sometimes I avoid quilting because I imagine it will take forever (which it does, if you make a full-sized quilt), but I forget that I can make mini's like this...I must try some little wall hangings!
ReplyDeleteFavourite fabric in Essentials II is the floralism in either blush or azure. They are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletecute quilt! :) these are fabulous collections that Pat created! I am particularly drawn to those big circles :)
