{BBQ Style} Wear to Where?
I am back with another addition of Wear to Where? This time I created a look for wearing to a BBQ. Now, I know that I have mentioned it before, but my hubby has grown to become quite the barbecue'r over the past few years, so we are quite schooled on BBQing. What's his secret ingredient you ask.....well, if you asked him, he would tell you "the secret to barbecuing is a well marinated cook" ;) Needless to say, when the smoker is goin', the beer is a flowin'.
With my look this time, I wanted to create something that expressed our love for the barley! I am currently falling back in love with my Silhouette machine, so I was really wanting to create a simple graphic tee. So, with that I chose the Slim Fit Raglan by Patterns for Pirates (affiliate link). It is an amazingly quick sew, and even after cutting the vinyl and ironing it on the shirt still only took me about an hour to make.
For the main tee, I used some incredibly soft and light cotton spandex from LA Finch Fabrics. I also had some beautiful floral jersey spandex on hand from Pretty Posh Prints on Facebook that I used for the sleeves to give it a pop of color and am just dying with the way that it turned out. I am also super lucky to have a new and AMAZING vinyl shop located fairly close to my house called CS Designs & Supplies that has an incredible selection to choose from.
If you have been following my blog for the last year, you might just recognize the pants that I am wearing! They are the Real Deal Jeans from Winter Wear Designs that I made for myself last spring in the Women's Bundle Blog Tour, and I just really felt that they needed re-blogging. That and they matched the green in my top absolutely perfect and the fabric is a stretch twill from Joann's which works perfect for these. I remember sewing these up last year and what a labor of love they were, and how the fit of them was absolutely perfect for my body. It was about that time that I really saw how blessed that I was to be able to make clothing that actually FITS my body. It was a revelation for me!
I feel so comfortable in my look that I created for attending a BBQ...what patterns would YOU choose for creating yourself a look? Be sure to stop by and see what the other blogger along the tour have created! We had such an awesome lineup this season, and I have really enjoyed seeing what everyone has come up with. The talent never ceases to amaze me.
AAAAAAAND, a little surprise for you!!! I wanted to share the love, so I have the cut file FREE to download for personal use. [Click on the picture below to download]
Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Your husband's secret is my secret to life. Is that okay to admit here?
ReplyDeleteI NEEEEEED that floral that you used for your sleeves. Like yesterday. It is so in my color wheelhouse!!
That graphic is too funny! I like how you picked a floral pattern for the sleeves. It really spices it up!
ReplyDeleteBahaha...this shirt is seriously awesome! I agree whole heartily with the sentiment, besides Jesus drank (and made) wine. :) The floral details on this shirt are perfection!
ReplyDeleteYou look awesome! I love this series, it's so fun to see how handmade clothes can work for every occasion.

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I love what you've done with the vinyl! I want! Thanks for sharing it. Now I have to find someone with a vinyl printer...
