{Terra Tunic} from Love Notions
Hey y'all...I am back!!!! Goodness, the holidays really took a toll on me this year. As you probably know if you have been reading my blog for a while, we homeschool! This school year we really just hit the books hard and never took much of a break, so once the holidays came I was exhausted. I am so glad to be BACK though and manage to find my SEWJO...WHOOP...and get some work done.
Love Notions new pattern was what got me back into the mood to sew. She just released the Terra Tunic, and OH MAN is it just LOVE! I have been working on a special project over at my Beauty Blog where I evaluate my closet and come up with a new outfit (from my closet mind you) each week and dubbed #threadsthursday which I will blog about soon. It has really got me thinking about my style and putting together different options that I wouldn't normally have thought of. The Terra Tunic seems to just fit right in and feel at home!
In Super-Tami fashion, as always, she has included SIX different neckline options:
Sleeve lengths also included are short, elbow, 3/4, and long, making this top something that can be utilized throughout the seasons...and you better believe that I will be!!
I just adore the classic look of this top. With the added details, including an ultra wide 2" hem and side vents, it really stands out from the crowd. Other optional details include elbow patches and welt pockets...say what?!? Sadly I didn't make any welt pockets in testing, but I will definitely be adding plently more tops to my wardrobe...I'm dying to do the v-neck hooded option next.
In testing I made the v-neck view in both a short sleeve and long sleeve and both take on such a different look. Terra is slightly fitted, but still has plenty of room to move around in and not accentuate that mom tum ;) if you know what I'm talking about.
Both of the fabrics that I used are from So Sew English. The Black and White stripe is a linen rayon blend and I'll be honest and say that it's my favorite. I think that it is the combo of a classic stripe with a classic looking top that really makes me feel put together..but then you can dress it up or down...as evidenced by my Chucks ;) I love those things. The charcoal sweater knit (no longer available, but here is a different color) is absolutely yummy and super soft on the inside....I just want to pet it!!! I also used their stretch faux leather for the elbow patches.
As per usual, I am super impressed with the fit and quality of this pattern. Have you grabbed your copy yet? I cannot wait to see what you create!!!
