{Olympia Dress} from Love Notions

It's starting to warm up here in Texas...of course. That means it's time for some clothes that are a bit cooler and the newest release from Love Notions, the (affil.) Olympia, is the perfect dress to fit the bill. With 2 skirt options and 5 sleeve options it will actually take you through ALL seasons!!!

I sewed up the XXL/D cup bodice and graded out to the XXXL for waist and hips. I love that Tami included cup sizing in this pattern due to the nature of the fit. Less adjustments to be made EQUALS one happy mama! Because I am 5'9", I lengthened the skirt 3", however next time I will split that into both the bodice and skirt. *My bodice turned out a bit short due to the fact that I have a longer torso and I didn't account for proper placement of the waistline, although I still very happy with the result.

I wasn't too familiar with the Shawl collar technique so it was a little intimidating, but thankfully with Tami's helpful tips and video tutorial it was a cinch.....and I have to say that the neckline is my absolute favorite part of this pattern. The v-neck with shawl collar is such a sleek design element that really makes for a nice clean finish! I also love the fit of the skirt. I'll definitely be hacking some maxi skirts from it in the very near future.

The fabric that I used is a Navy Ponte from Joanns. In testing there were many different fabrics that were used, but I really enjoyed the stability of the Ponte fabric for the bodice because I was able to get cleaner lines that I was with a slinkier Rayon. When I hack into a maxi though, I'll surely be using something with more drape and less stability, which will in turn be a bit cooler as well!

As usual, another WIN in the dress department from Love Notions! I have said it before and I'll say it again...I'm really not a huge fan of dresses, but somehow Tami always seems to get the fit and design just right to make me feel like an absolute princess!!!

I already have a few hacks brewing in my head, so make sure you check back soon!!! The Olympia is on sale through Saturday April 1, so grab it while you can...you won't be sorry!!!
