{Rhapsody Blouse} from Love Notions
AND NOW....what we have all been waiting for...drum roll please..............the Rhapsody Blouse from Love Notions! The very first woven blouse Tami has released and she has knocked it out of the park!!! I am already imagining SO MANY different tops with this pattern.
If you're anything like me, you will occasionally find a nice woven, but just don't have THE perfect pattern for it so they just sit on your fabric shelf....well go ahead and pull them out ladies because the time has COME!!!
As you all know, you will get a handful of options in each Love Notions pattern. With the Rhapsody you have a choice of EIGHT sleeve options including:
For testing I chose to do the cap sleeve as the weather is finally started to get hot here in TX, although we have had pretty mild weather so far. I also had to make a sleeveless version...because HEAT! I absolutely adore both, but I'll be honest and say that I cannot wait for cooler weather later this year so that i can make the bell w/ flare sleeve...add some trim in there....OMG I can't wait! I have always ooogled over those beautiful "hippie" tops, as I usually call them, that are so beautiful and flowy but just never seem to fit me correctly. Yep, I will now have a closet FULL of them ;)
For the cap sleeve I used some crepe (I think) from Joann's that I found about a month ago...Joann's has really stepped up their game BTW and have some LOVELY rayons that would be perfect for this top. This fabric is very light and airy with amazing drape which worked beautifully here. *This top was an earlier version in testing so the neckline is a bit wide here which was corrected in the final.*
This coral sleeveless version is my favorite...probably because I just adore this color, but also because the fit on it is just perfect for my body. I feel so blessed that I am able to make clothes for myself that truly FIT my body. I fell like my wardrobe has really blossomed because of it! This fabric is a rayon...once again from Joann's and was super easy to work with.
The construction of this blouse is definitely for the intermediate sewist because of a few techniques that are used...one being the hot dog method, but I will be honest and say that creating the binding and attaching is by FAR the hardest part. Working with slinkier fabrics make SURE to use starch (Best Press) or you may just drive yourself bananas....B-A-N-A-N-A-S...yes I went there! Other than the binding, the blouse is a BREEZE to sew.

Both beautiful on you. I have some lightweight wovens in my stash and I plan to get started on this one STAT! Even though I'm in steamy Florida, I spend so much time in doctors' offices these days that I'm starting with the gorgeous 3/4 sleeve with flounce. Now that's making lemonade out of lemons!
ReplyDeleteYou really rocked this pattern Courtney, thank you for your help!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, Courtney! I love both versions you tested. And I have found the Joann's has DEFINITELY stepped up their fabric game recently which is so nice to see. Definitely a plus for someone, like me, who usually shops for fabric online due to lack of options!
ReplyDeleteCourtney, both of these are so gorgeous! That coral is fab on you too!
ReplyDeleteThese are great! This top is definitely on trend.
